Keira Knightley was SEVENTEEN in the first pirates of the caribbean movie and now she’s THIRTY and she looks EXACTLY THE SAME. And by “exactly the same” I mean at seventeen she looked like she was in her mid twenties and possessed beauty and elegance too perfect for this world, like the physical manifestation of the word ethereal, and can anyone actually discern any sign of her aging in the last 13 years? has she honestly ever aged? will she ever? I’d say it’s witchcraft or aliens but I think the most reasonable explanation is that she’s Keira Knightley

Lina Wertmüller b. August 14, 1928

Wertmüller was born into an aristocratic Swiss family living in Italy. She initially worked in theatre but in 1963 worked briefly as a third assistant director for Federico Fellini on his film 8 ½. She made her directorial debut that same year with the film The Lizards.  In 1966, under the pseudonym George H. Brown she directed the film Rita the Mosquito which was also her first film with actor Giancarlo Giannini. The collaboration would prove a fruitful one. Wertmüller not only worked with Giannini again in the sequel to RitaDon’t Sting the Mosquito, but she also cast him in her 1972 political satire The Seduction of Mimi alongside actress Mariangela Melato.

The Seduction of Mimi played In Competition at the Cannes Film Festival and was a huge critical success which lead to Wertmüller casting Giannini and Melato as her leads in another two films: Love & Anarchy and Swept Away. In 1975 Wertmüller cast Giannini as the lead in the film Seven Beauties about a vain man forced to give up everything in order to survive the concentration camps during the Second World War. The film was so successful that after its release in the U.S. the film earned Oscar nominations for Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Foreign Film, and Best Director making Wertmüller the first woman to be nominated for directing at the Oscars (another woman would not be nominated until 1994, when Jane Campion earned a nomination for The Piano).

After her success abroad Wertmüller was invited to make studio movies in Hollywood. She made two more films with Giannini: A Night Full of Rain, which was a commercial failure, and Blood Feud. The films would be their last together. Though she continued to work steadily throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she never again attained the success she had during her mid-70s collaborations with Giannini. Her last full length feature film was the 2004 comedy Too Much Romance… It’s Time for Stuffed Peppers starring Sophia Loren.

She is the subject of the 2015 documentary Behind the White Glasses.

Do you think big movie stars like Matt Damon and Brad Pitt should be held accountable for not working with female directors?

fuckyeahwomenfilmdirectors:

Yes.

I posted an article from Cosmo awhile back that looked at leading men in Hollywood and how often they had worked with women directors if at all. Some people responded to it by saying that maybe women directors just weren’t that good (which never stopped male directors from making movies) but some said that we shouldn’t blame poor actors who are subject to the whims of casting directors for this which is just hopelessly naive. Not only do Damon, Pitt etc no longer have to audition for anything, they’ve now reached a stage in their careers where they are producers meaning they are the ones who can go out and court directors to work on the scripts THEY like. This also means that they can dismiss directors they don’t like. Catherine Hardwicke and Lexi Alexander both said that they lobbied really hard to direct The Fighter and they were both told that one of the producers refused to even meet with them because they didn’t want a woman to direct.

I remember Brad Pitt saying with total astonishment when he did By the Sea that his wife was the first female director he had ever worked for, like he isn’t a producer and couldn’t have hired any of the many talented women out there any time he wanted. Looking at his imdb page I see he has 44 producing credits and from what I can tell only 3 of those projects were directed by women. One of them includes Selma, but the fact that Ava DuVernay directed that is often credited to David Oyelowo who said that the film pretty much wasn’t going to happen and then he begged them to consider DuVernay who he had worked with on Middle of Nowhere.

Actually Oyelowo is the perfect example of a man who is an ally.  Unlike most of his peers the second he got enough clout to get into producing he didn’t forget about the indie directors (many of them women) who cast him when he wasn’t famous. He only has seven producing credits but four of those are for films directed by women. And he loudly and proudly talks about the women directors who helped form his career. Can you imagine where we would be if Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Tom Cruise, men who are now lucky enough to be able to make hiring decisions, would make even 25% of the directors they hired women???

I put on my Tinder profile that I hate sports, I don’t drink beer and I’m 150% feminine all day all the time and so many guys are like…offended? One guy was like “what if the guy you like loves sports, you won’t even watch with him?” And I asked “will you wake up at 8am during fashion week to watch live streams of shows with me because that’s what I’m really interested in. And he said “I don’t really find that interesting.” And I’m like THEN WHY THE FUCK WOULD I CARE ABOUT SPORTS FOR YOU OMG.

I’ve seen this a couple times on Facebook and no no no no. This is borderline abusive. Maybe a father would send this, but a boyfriend???

“It’s hard because I’ve always been a tremendously good person”
What are you implying about your girlfriend there, pal?

“When I text you, you are to answer”
Okay mom. Seriously. She’s your girlfriend, let her have fun instead of having to check her phone constantly.

Don’t patronize your partner and act like they’re your child. Going to a party doesn’t mean they value parties over you. And if you have to remind your girlfriend not to cheat multiple times maybe you should reevaluate your trust issues. Don’t give your girlfriend a fucking curfew. If you can’t trust her to be reasonable at a party to the point that you send her a fucking book of rules, then maybe you shouldn’t be together.

Seriously. Significant others aren’t your possessions/children.

The sad part is that shit like this really happens there are men out there that think this is normal. And if you don’t stop it early on it just gets worse, talking from experience..really messes you up when you still get haunted by this behavior years later

^^
Possessiveness == cute and usually doesn’t end innocently

this is so gross

be careful, stay safe, don’t drink too much, text me when you get home etc is one thing but this… this is just fucked up
