British tv cooking competitions: held in a large tent in the middle of a field, the host is a lesbian comedian and the judge is an adorable 80 year old woman, everything is a terrible pun, all the contestants are friends and cry when someone is eliminated
US tv cooking competitions: the set is a barely-lit dungeon, no one smiles in the entire series, rock/screamo musical intro, every sentence is emphasised with a cymbal crash, everyone hates each other especially the judges, at least one contestant is introduced holding a gun
Britain just issued a travel warning for LGBT people headed to U.S.
It’s that bad.
In the eyes of the British government, the U.S. may now be a risky destination for LGBT travelers. The British Foreign Office posted a travel advisory update to its website Tuesday warning members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities about anti-LGBT laws passed recently in North Carolina and Mississippi. “The U.S. is an extremely diverse society and attitudes towards LGBT people differ hugely across the country,” the advisory reads. “LGBT travelers may be affected by legislation passed recently in the states of North Carolina and Mississippi.”
The advisory also provides a map that marks countries around the world — including Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Nicaragua, as well as much of northern Africa and the Middle East — that also have anti-LGBT laws, and includes a few more pieces of travel advice. “Some hotels, especially in rural areas, won’t accept bookings from same-sex couples — check before you go,” the British government warns, noting that LGBT travelers should also “exercise discretion” in rural areas and avoid “excessive physical shows of affection” when in public.
How fucked up is this
Goddamn, seriously.
Everyone, please please please reblog this!! We must keep each other safe. What is happening in North Carolina and Mississippi is messed up, but we have to have each others back. Spread the word. Be safe🌈

How can any American with any sense of morality and a conscience say that when we’ve been marked as one of the “risky” travel locations? When our politics and diverse laws allow such hatred that other countries have to mark us and warn their citizens about visiting us? This is what’s wrong with our country right now. It’s not the 1800′s, it’s not the 50s, it’s not a third world country.
We are America. We are a country that needs to grow up and act like first world country. We need to get our shit together and evolve with the rest of the world.
I’m laughing but I’m actually so terrified for you americans
I’m terrified for us too
Same!
So fucking afraid for you but seriously can’t wait for the hunger games 2k18! Wooo!
It’s gonna be Hunger Games everywhere if that lunatic is elected.
In the USA, it’s 100x cheaper to take an Uber to the hospital instead of an ambulance.
I don’t know if this is true or..
Like, having to pay for an ambulance that is taking you to the hospital? That doesn’t make any sense. What kind of distopian world is that?It costs thousands of dollars to ride in an ambulance
In America some people with chronic health conditions like epilepsy literally have to wear medical IDs that say “don’t call an ambulance/911”. Some well-meaning person calling an ambulance for you will turn into a thousand (or couple thousand) dollars that YOU are on the hook for, even though you didn’t make the call. So, PSA: if you see someone having a seizure, look for a medical ID! You should only call an ambulance if: the person is elderly, pregnant, or the seizure lasts more than 4 minutes. Otherwise, wait for the seizure to pass, then ask the person if they want an ambulance when they regain consciousness.
wtf
Oh my god what.
Here in Quebec, if you call an ambulance for something they deem non-emergency, you get a bill later for like $180. But if it’s anything like a loss of consciousness, chest pains, labour, whatever, or if you’re in a public place and a a well-meaning samaritan calls 911, it’s paid for by the government.
Seriously, everything about healthcare in the US makes me want to cry.
A couple times a good friend of mine who lived close by called me in the middle of the night for a ride to the hospital because she was super sick but couldn’t drive herself and couldn’t afford the charge for an ambulance.
I really do think America wants the poor to die.
