This is the first time ive seen this meme used and it wasnt only in character but also literally sounds like actual dialogue from the series itd paired with
Armageddon is one of the few DVDs I didn’t sell because Ben Affleck on the commentary track is relentless. Below is the clip of the commentary from where this tidbit of trivia came from. Please take a moment to witness the magic.
this is so fucking funny
“aim the drill at the ground and turn it on”
im cracking up lmfaoooo “didnt you see apollo 13, boy?”
In 2 minutes, Ben Affleck makes up for every shitty film he ever made.
Oh my God. I have to listen to the commentary now.
I really am not a Ben Affleck fan at all, but I appreciate it when somebody doesn’t take their work so seriously that they can’t make fun of it.
I just learned that Nichelle Nichols ad-libbed “sorry, neither” in rehearsals and they were only able to sneak it by the censors because it wasn’t in the script and—excuse me I’m overcome with happiness because my favorite Uhura line of all time was actually written by Uhura.
You are moping on your island of self-imposed exile, and then this girl shows up.
She’s flying your best friend’s ship. The ship that Han thought he lost for ever. The ship that was stolen and passed through so many hands that he was sure he’d never see it again. The same ship that took you away from home for the first time.
She’s accompanied by your personal droid. The droid you left behind and abandoned. The droid that C-3PO was sure would never be the same again.
She holds out her hand and she’s holding your father’s light saber. The sword you were sure was lost forever. The light saber that you dropped down a bottomless air shaft on a gas giant thirty years ago. The light saber you knew you would never see again.
You look up and you see her eyes. Maz Kanata says that if you live long enough, you see the same eyes looking out of different faces. The girl’s face is different, but those eyes are the same. You know those eyes. They’re the eyes you thought you’d never see again.
And that’s when you know it.
You’re screwed.
They say sometimes the Force works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, the Force will send you little signs. Subtle clues.
Other times, the Force will just beat you repeatedly over the head with a gigantic neon sign that says: “You can’t run away from your past anymore, Luke. I won’t let you. Look, here is your past come back to haunt you. Now deal with it.”
You have no idea how much I adore this post with my whole being
I like the idea of the Force sending Luke little signs over the years that it’s time to return to his loved ones, gently increasing in intensity as he ignores them, until it finally gets fed up and shoves the events of Episode 7 into motion, finishing with a flourish of HERE’S YOUR NEW APPRENTICE, SPACE HOBO.
“The Devil Went Down To Georgia” White Trash Washing Machine Cover
That’s just. Amazing.
AWESOMENESS
this is awesome
This is literally the futuristic version of washboard music. Is that not just fucking amazing? We had dudes playing washboards to accompany music since the early days of blues and zydeco and today we’re sitting here watching someone using a washing machine in the exact same way. Imagine being some old fella playing a washboard with thimbles in a little jug-and-tea-chest outfit back in the 20s, imagine if someone told you that in about 100 years time, some kid would be using a machine that will replace the washboard to serve the exact same purpose.
And speaking of pronouns, flat-out my favorite part of the LOTR Appendices is when it’s revealed that the Gondorian dialect of the Common Speech differentiates between formal and informal second-person pronouns but the distinction’s been lost in the Hobbit’s dialect, so Pippin’s blithely been using familiar terms of address with the Lord of the City, and thus helps to explain both why the Gondorians are so ready to assume he’s a prince and why Denethor finds him so amusing to have around.
not what i expected from a post that began with “speaking of pronouns,” but an a++ show of the versatility and surprise daily available on tumblr dot com
did you know that before they decided on a cgi baby for the twilight movie they had planned to use this ANIMATRONIC baby
feel like this also begs the question: why did the people who were in charge of this consider two alternatives for this character instead of just, like, a real human baby. i can’t imagine you couldn’t just nab some newborn off a crew member or friend
…
I want to die!!!!
this is the funniest post I’ve seen on tumblr in forever
I have never seen these movies in their entirety and was unaware there was a cgi baby in it so I am posting this gif of a scene I discovered was genuinely used in the movie twilight unironically
Is that when the werewolf falls in love with the baby
Because that was a thing, the werewolf falls in love with the baby
“Oh I wasn’t in love with YOU! I was in love with the baby inside of you all along.” Because that’s a regular thing to write, STEPHANIE. MEYER.
can you blame him i mean that is one hot baby
SO THATS WHERE IT COMES FROM IVE BEEN USING
FOR YEARS I NEVER KNEW IT WAS FROM TWILIGHT HAHAHAHAHAHA
what the fuck
reason why they didn’t use a real baby: who would trust vampires and werewolves with their child?
They say that the crew who made her had lost the animatronic and that she is still out there. Aparently some of the crew members are afraid to find her again
This was a weird and wild ride from start to finish.
I, for one, hope that animatronic is in Hell where it belongs. lol
Happy Birthday Carrie Fisher! [B. October 21st, 1956-∞]
“When I love, I love for miles and miles. A love so big it should either be outlawed or it should have a capital and its own currency.” – Carrie Fisher
