Like Superman never defeated the kkk.. #Love it!

remember when captain america punched hitler in the face on the cover of his first issue

Like the X-Men and Luke Cage weren’t created during the Civil Right’s Movement during the 60’s for no fucking reason at all…

Remember that the comics that really got the industry up and running where created by Jews in response to antisemitism and what was happening to Jews during the Holocaust.

But sure nothing at all related to social justice and equality there at all /sarcasm/

also, that book isn’t even about Superman fighting the KKK in a fictional story either, like, it’s about a guy named Stetson Kennedy who went undercover and infiltrated the KKK, then gave all their secret codes and handshakes to the Superman writers so they could do a bunch of stories where Superman fights the Klan, in order to reinforce the Klan as both villainous and worthy of ridicule.

It worked really well, too, the iteration of the Ku Klux Klan that existed at the time (before it was revived by modern white supremacists) was largely DISBANDED because of this Superman storyline, after a lot of Klan leaders went home and saw their kids Playing Superman, beating up pretend Klansmen who happened to be using their actual codes and titles.

Getting social issues involved in comics has had an actual tangible effect on dynamics in the real world, and having Superman fight the KKK in fiction actually managed to adequately shame the majority of Klansmen into disbanding their organization.

So, it makes sense to write fictional heroes as being opposed to real villains, because superheroes play a big part in forming kids’ conception of right and wrong

I got in a fight with someone recently who told me not to “make the Captain America movies all political” like. Come on. Sweaty.

Comics have always been inherently political, people may have just been too obtuse and unobservant to notice.

Nothing wrong with being an unobservant kid. Staying that way as an adult is another matter.

Someone thinking that comics didn’t used to be political in the golden/silver/bronze age is perfectly understandable provided of course that person is someone who has never actually read like 95% of any of the comic books written in the golden, silver and bronze age

I mean for the love of god, Fake Fanboys…Mike Friedrich, Chris Claremont, John Ostrander…fucking JERRY SIEGEL AND JOE SHUSTER and Jack “The King” Kirby…

COMICS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN POLITICAL

ALWAYS

Y’know, I really enjoy the concept of Clark Kent.

Like, minus the whole superman aspect.

because, like, okay I can buy that maybe he can disguise himself well enough to hide the fact that he’s superman, but i doubt any amount of slouching and glasses wearing can truly disguise that he’s a very tall EXTREMELY muscular man with a jawline that can cut glass.

So basically this newspaper office has this guy who looks like a weightlifter/supermodel just hanging around but he wears glasses and acts like a huge nerd and everyone just goes with it???

Like “Oh yeah, that’s Clark. No no he works here. Oh no don’t bother being intimidated by him, talk to him for five minutes and he’ll devolve into a lecture on proper tractor maintenance. We like Clark.”

I wonder if the ladies in the office ever drag him with them to bars so they don’t have to worry about creeps trying to harass them like “back off creeps our friend here is 6′4″ and grew up chucking hay bales”
And then it’s funny because (as far as they know) Clark is like, the meekest lil nerd around. (He don’t look it though!!!!)

It’s just incredible to me that Clark Kent can pull off being a quiet harmless dork while still looking like, well, superman.

Do you think he occasionally turns up to the office Halloween party wearing a really shitty Batman costume?

Well, I do now.

LGBTQ+ superheroes for Pride month ❤

Nice try but the first 3 are not gay. You Tumblr degenerate send your wishful thinking. seriously do you people have to ruin everything…

Deadpool is pansexual. Loki is bisexual and gender fluid. Wonder Woman is bisexual like all the Amazons. Educate yourself about comic canon before saying something ridiculous.

Do you have any reliable sources that can back this up?

You mean… besides the fucking comics?!

Wonder Woman was shown as canonically bisexual in the main DCU continuity in Wonder Woman: Year One (She was heavily implied to be numerous times before then but it was stated canonically in that comic that she had romantic and sexual relationships with multiple Amazons and left her girlfriend behind to journey to our world to stop the threat of Ares sons bringing chaos and war to the world)

She’s also canonically bisexual in Wonder Woman: Earth One where she straight up tells Steve Trevor that another Amazon is her lover and also in DC Comics Bombshells where she and Mera were girlfriends

Loki is canonically bisexual and generfluid…they have shifted from male to female multiple times stating that both are their real form and Odin, Loki’s father, referred to Loki as “Their child who is both male and female” in a published Marvel comics

And anyone who thinks Deadpool is straight has not only never read the comics but also apparently never been to see either movie either because I’m not sure what part of Deadpool grabbing Colossus’s chrome plated ass and dry humping him made them think “Yeah this is a Totally Straight Hetero Just Bros Being Bros”

Fake fans 🙄 Read the comics. all your faves are queer

Wait did people literally not get the memo on any of this?

Fake fanboys act like google is broken and literally the only way they can acquire information is by harassing queer ppl on tumblr with these inane questions.

It’s called sealioning. They don’t actually care about sources they just want to wear ‘the opposition’ out by drawing out the argument or debate as painstakingly as they can. It’s manipulation and cowardice.

That’s the most succinct definition of sealioning I’ve seen. I can finally apply it to the zillion debates I’ve had with -splainers and gatekeepers…

Also, deliberately ignoring and arguing against the obvious sexual orientations of Deadpool and Wonder Woman is laughable. Like, I barked out a laugh.

And, uh, Loki is a mythological deity. Literal stories for thousands of years show him as bisexual and genderfluid.

These assholes just want to whine about their world being not how they want.
