The anniversary of the worst homophobic hate crime in this country in which 49 people were killed and 53 more were injured is coming up and just wanted to remind you what I’ve reminded folks in a previous account:
We’re always at constant attack for being who we are. Pulse reminded us to not keep our guard down when it comes to violent homophobia and transphobia. Let us also remember that people are still profiting off of our pain like this morning when TMZ showed footage (I advise you to ignore TMZ forever). Also the victims were mestizo, people of color. Note that many LGBT people of color are always in danger of being killed, harmed and abused.
This month, yes, celebrate who we are but also fight for who you are. We have the opportunity to bash back against homophobia and transphobia. The fight for liberation still continues.
Remember that.
