“average writer writes 3 books a year" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person writes 1 book per year. Steven King, who lives in cave & writes over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

See this makes me feel so bad for GRRM. Because he doesn’t actually have a job, that’s not what’s going on. If I was feeling how he was feeling in that second to last image, I’d probably just…quit my job. Clearly he’s got some serious issues going on and writing that last book might not be, like, good for him. 

I would never want to be in his position! He’s in the world’s worst feedback loop, where the longer it takes him to write the book the angrier people get at him, and the more people hate him the harder it is for him to write the book. But unlike a job, he’s not allowed to quit, so he’s just trapped there and hopefully he has a really good therapist.
