most villages i know have way more pubs than all their shops combined
Someone I worked with asked me once “How big is the village you live in?” and my initial internal response was to go “Well we have two pubs and a church”, but I didn’t and I replied with a population estimate. His response to this was “Huh, usually people just say how many pubs they have”
