Don’t fucking tell me people aren’t using abortion as a form of birth control when the second someone who *might* do something about abortion becomes VP half my feed is about getting IUDs.
They’re talking about getting IUDs because they’re concerned about losing access to birth control.
Eh, buddy, you really don’t know how birth control works, do you?
I live in a country where birth control is subsidized; this means my birth control cost over a three year period is $5. But in the USA, birth control is not subsidized and can be extremely expensive; affordable healthcare means that more people can afford to protect themselves from an unintended pregnancy than previously would.
When Emperor Donald the first of his name repeals the healthcare act, hundreds of thousands of people are going to lose their healthcare – but IUDs, which are unpopular because of side-effects and people generally being opposed to having a tiny grappling hook launched into their anatomy, last for up to 10 years so they will outlast the Trump regime.
Supreme Leader Trump also wants to take abortion access away from people. Nobody plans to get pregnant and have an abortion, but no form of birth control is perfect and legal abortion access is a last resort. The oral contraceptive pill, one of the most popular forms of birth control, has a 0.3% failure rate when used perfectly but typically has a 9% failure rate in the real world.
The IUD, on the other hand, has a 0.8% typical use failure rate – this means your chances of getting pregnant have gone from 1 in 11 to 1 in 125, which are much better odds when your only choice is to endure an unwanted pregnancy if anything goes wrong.
tl;dr: you are willfully misconstruing the facts to support an asinine preconceived notion
OP seriously thinks that women are dropping money on abortions left, right, and center instead of using any of the other, far more affordable and practical options.
